Giving Time (Day 177 of 365)

Yesterday, Jorden and I came up with an idea. We thought it would be awesome if he wrote an entry every week. What do you think about this? Summer is fast approaching and the kiddos will be leaving in about a month to visit their Dad in Tennessee. They will be gone for 6-8 weeks. I thought it would be awesome if Jorden emailed me pictures and wrote an entry about the things that they have been doing while they are gone. Therefore, we started it last night. I think as the time goes on this will also help him with his grammar and spelling, and I predict that he will get more and more into writing. He already likes to read our blog, and with him writing every week…he’ll be sure to put his heart into it.

Jorden’s Annual IEP (Individualized Education Program) was held this morning at 7:30. Due to my work schedule it is important that whenever I have meetings in regards to my own children that they are scheduled as earliest as possible. These meetings are extremely important because they review important facts of the individual child of the past year such as: present academic and/or cognitive levels, progress made, concerns of the parents, goals & objectives for the next year, & the accommodations that need to be made in order to assist that student with achieving his/her goals & objectives. In the past these meetings have shown to be stressful and challenging for me. I think partly because I am a Special Education Teacher myself and I have expectations on what should and could be done for each of my children. Erin’s IEP had already been held and went well. Taylor’s IEP was ended before it ever started, therefore I was a little reluctant when entering Jorden’s meeting. I usually take another person with me for support, advice, and mostly another ear. These meetings can be overwhelming. However, this morning I was unable to take anyone else with me.
