It’s been a bust couple of days…
Yesterday, Jase came over to see the kids. This is the first time that he has seen them since they have been back. Even though him and I are taking a break from each other for awhile…we agreed that it would be best if we both sat down with them and let them know that he still cares about them and that he will see them soon, but he won’t be hanging out with us for awhile. We all spent some time together and went to get icecream. I feel so much better that he had this talk with them. For awhile, I was feeling like the referree and also felt like I had to come up with another excuse as to why he wasn’t around. This is the way it needed to be done so they understand he really does care about them. However, it doesn’t stop Little Miss Tay from asking about him or calling him on her cell phone any moment she can.
Even though the kiddos got back a few days ago, Jorden is leaving again on Saturday. He gets to go visit my brother in Reno. My Mom had given him a plane ticket to visit him for his birthday…and this is the first time he has had a chance to go. I wanted to spend some one on one time with him so him and I and some friends went up to Mt. Charleston and had a fun day of hiking. It was great spending this time with just him.
I really admire that boy. He has some real challenges and he never gives up, never stops (he might rest, but never stops!), and doesn’t complain. He was climbing down a steep hill and he was talking himself down…he did it! As I was watching him, I realized this is a child with asthma and who is blind in one eye and you would never know. Another thing about Jorden is that he constantly asks questions. I know what you are thinking…asking questions is a good thing right? Well, yes…it is. However, as soon as he asks a question he begins to think of the next question to ask. I had a realization today… I imagined if I were partially blind and I could see anything out of one eye. I walked around like that for awhile. Then I also thought…would I worry more? Would I want to know the unknown more? Would I want to know what was ahead of me? You know…I think I just might.
Anyways…The fact is he’s a pretty awesome kid…if you didn’t already know that!
Until Next Time,
E
