I Arrived in Bermuda!! (Day 228 of 365) ENTRY 2

Thursday, July 9th 2010

It was a long night and a long day…but the end result is a success and that is that I am in Bermuda!! It was definitely an eventful day. I don’t know how I manage to do it…but I am always able to create something to talk about. My flight went well and after 11 hours of traveling I finally arrived in Bermuda. I was anxious to get my luggage and head to the hotel where a tropical drink and beach was waiting for me. All I had to do was get through Customs. You would think that would be really easy right? Well, apparently not for me.

The Customs Officer asked me if I had any fruits, nuts, cigarettes, or alcohol that I had brought with me. It would have been very easy to say “no”, but no, I HAD to tell the truth…so, I said “yes, I have an orange”. The officer said “an orange? Where is it?” Hmmm….I wasn’t quite sure, because I had switched over some stuff into another bag at the last minute before I left Vegas…so I said “I think in my suitcase” He advised me that we had to check my suitcase to confiscate the orange. Then he begins rummaging through all of my delicates looking for an orange! He pulls out my flippers & snorkel, pulls out some shoes, pulls out my bible AND no orange! After 10 minutes of looking for this one orange I finally convinced him that if I find the orange I will contact the Customs Department. Therefore, he let me go off in a taxi to the hotel. Roughly 15 minutes later, after I arrived in my room at the hotel the phone rang. I picked it up thinking it was my friend Lori greeting me and telling me when she would be getting off work…but it wasn’t. It was the Custom’s Officer asking if I found the orange! I told him that the concierge had not yet delivered my luggage yet from the lobby. Therefore, I hadn’t had the opportunity to look for it. He asked if I would call him back to let him know if I locate it…

All this for an orange? Really?!?!

Regardless, of the orange situation this place is absolutely beautiful. Overall, the people are very friendly…and I am thoroughly enjoying myself. I’ll keep you posted on what happens next!

In the meantime I made a little video of my travels to Bermuda.

Until Next Time,

E
