I only have a couple days left with the kiddos since they leave for Tennessee early Thursday morning so I have been making sure we get as much time in as possible. The beauty of living in Vegas is there can be lots to do if you are resourceful and creative (especially in the Summertime). Today we spent the entire day at one of the Casino Pools. When entering a building…the kids and I always seem to make heads turn anyway. How can one not look when they see me with three kiddos (one in a walker (Erin), one running ahead of me with an awkward gait and me yelling “Slow Down!” (Taylor), and one asking 50 questions (Jorden)….but today we added a little extra bang with our entrance.
We walked into the pool area and in order to get to the pool recliners and actual pool you have to walk down these steps (they are very hard to see, as they blend into the decorative pool deck) Taylor was so excited, and she ran ahead of me….as usual, and as I was yelling, “Stop! Slow Down”,

"The Steps"
she began to tumble down the steps onto her stomach. As this was happening, Security began to run over, Casino Executives began to dart to Taylor’s attention. Taylor began to yell. I believe that part of her yelling was out of fear and embarrassment. She seemed to be fine (no blood, maybe a scrape) but nothing she couldn’t bounce up from. The attention from everyone else was causing more of a scene…so I kindly said, “Thank-you” to the people that came to help us and explained that I believe her upset is partly due to the attention that she was receiving. They were very kind, and said that they would leave and if we needed their help to inform Security. Once they were gone…Tay was up and at it….and in the pool! We had a great time swimming, laughing, and enjoying the sun! It was a really nice day. Nothing else was said about her tumble the rest of the day… That’s just like the Little Kids… They fall down, and they get back up again! I love it!!
Until Next Time,
E

HI Eden I’ve been watching your vids on youtube for the last few months and reading this blog for the same amount of time.
I really enjoy reading about your lives you are all wonderful
My Best friend has CP that affects his legs badly both arms mildly and his voice (he stammers) he also learns differently from others like erin and tay and he has something call startle reflex (he jumps a lot)
Anyways I understand about Tay falling as my friend has done the same thing millions of times when we’ve both been out and about and people come running over and he makes him frightened because of his startle reflex because he doesnt like people he doesnt know to touch him.

Thanks so much for watching Claire! Yes, it can be overwhelming….especially when others just don’t understand. However, grateful that people care to do their best to help.

Here in Scotland there isn’t much tolerance among the gen population for the disabled (esp with the teenagers) I have had my fair share of public shouting matches with them.
So when people do come over i am as weary as my Friend is
I’ve known him for 10years and not once have i ever lost my temper with him but instead helped him to the best of ability.
But when people offer a hand in kindness I try my best to let him know that it is alright.
I am sorry but i have given the wrong email addy on the wee form i didn’t proof read it (red face) and also for the really late reply.
