Happy Belated St. Paddy’s Day!
Yesterday. I decided to slow down a bit. I have been going here and going there that I lost what matters most. My faith and my family. Therefore, yesterday I woke up and took 10 minutes (which is a start) and prayed and read….then decided that after my St. Paddy’s Day at work that was full of activities…I would make it all about the kiddos.
After work, I picked up the kids and took them to Color Me Mine. This is a place that sells unfinished pottery and provides paints and other materials for you to paint & decorate your choice and then they fire it in their kilins. http://www.henderson.colormemine.com/Kids.tpl?m=k
Once it is done, it is a work of art that you will have forever! Due to it being St. Patricks Day, if you wore green they provided tons of snacks and gave a great discount. AND…it was the perfect time to go since we have many friend’s and family member’s birthdays coming up. The kiddos and I had a fun time painting and designing a memento for the ones we loved! It was really nice to spend time just the kids and I.
After painting, we headed over to Jason’s Deli for a healthy dinner. We love this place because not only do they have the best baked potatoes ever…but free soft serve icecream! Which as you can imagine…is a big hit in the Little House! During dinner, I realized that I haven’t sat down and actually ate dinner with my kiddos for awhile. Even when I make dinner at home. I serve them their food and then I’m off to the next thing. So, it really gave me some true insight into what habits/patterns that have been created due to our busy schedule. It’s amazing what you can learn in talking with your kids for 20 minutes. It never ceases to amaze me.
The lesson of the day I learned yesterday was…
Its time for me to slow down. Its ok, to still be busy….but when I get lost in the business of being busy and forget all about the life around me…then I lose myself. Then it becomes more of a challenge to be found. Not sure if this makes sense to you…however, in MY brain it makes perfect sense!
Guess what I lost for just a moment….AND guess what I found for a lifetime….The pictures say it all!
